In order to help people with partial hearing impairment and to boost the understanding of content published on the platform, TikTok launches the new automatic subtitles feature in videos.
This allows users to include automatic captions on videos.
TikTok has confirmed the launch, through a video posted on its official Twitter account, in which it highlights the launch of the new tool and shows how it can be used from now on:
To be able to employ the automatic subtitles in TikTok will have to wait for the social network to enable the function for each account; something it has already started to do and will gradually roll out to all users in the coming months.
Automatic subtitles in TikTok
It should be noted that so far, the function has been enabled for English accounts, although it is to be expected that it will also be available in other languages in the future.
When a user has the feature enabled, he will see a new icon when uploading his video that will allow him to include, as if it were the text of a song, the transcription of his words, placing it anywhere on the screen, as if it were a sticker.
It will also allow you to edit the content of the subtitles; automatic to avoid errors that the automatic transcription may contain.
With this new function, TikTok is on a par with other social networks that also intend to include this type of automatic captions.
This is the case of Instagram, which although it launched captions for Stories in the form of a sticker in May, has not yet officially enabled the feature for its more than 1 billion users worldwide.
