Spotify with new features and arrives surpassing Clubhouse

by Gustavo Ruiz | Jul 26, 2021 | Actualidad

Spotify Clubhouse

Impressive as social networks become a boxing ring, and since the arrival of Clubhouse and its exclusivity to belong to it, many are the social apps that want to imitate, match and surpass it, and now comes Spotify with a new bet for users.

First it was Clubhouse in the new trend of audio rooms, but new competitors appear with a new trend assaulting the king of social networks.

Now comes Spotify, with Greenroom, its own application in which we can set up audio-only meetings between several people.

The function of these audio rooms is the same as in Twitter Spaces and Clubhouse rooms; but with an interesting addition, the organizers of each room will have the option to save and upload them in podcast format. In this way the rooms will not be ephemeral and can be available to anyone who could not attend live.

However, Spotify does not offer this new feature to everyone equally. To access it you have to request our participation within this Greenroom as its focus is much more commercial and is aimed at monetizing all the events that we can organize from the first minute. Unlike Clubhouse where, for the moment, they are looking for a way to make the platform profitable and generate income.

In this way, Spotify has set a series of limits when it comes to being part of this new program. As it warns on its support page «there is no limit to the number of creators who can participate […] But there are some exceptions».

And what are these restrictions? They are as follows:

All those minors who are minors in their place of residence (depending on the country when internationalizing).

Any citizen not residing in the U.S.

«Any person who has a commercial arrangement with Spotify that may prevent them from participating in the Fund or prevent them from receiving direct payments from Spotify or related entities.»

Spotify’s own employees

Any other person who engages in «fraudulent activities» or that «violate any of Spotify’s Policies and constitute copyright infringement».

The operation of Greenroom will lead users who want to participate in these audio events to invite us to pay a small amount by way of help and support to the creator. This makes these rooms, from the beginning, one more element to obtain income for both the platform and the user who launches to create content on a regular basis.
