The social network Instagram is working on introducing a subscription on its platform that will include the famous blue verified account badge, presumably following the example of Twitter.

However, this is not new for the platform since a year ago it started tests on the matter with three options depending on the type of exclusive content that the creator wants to offer to his followers.

The three options would be: live videos, stories that support interaction with stikers, or badges, or badges to identify subscribers in the feed comments.

Developer and reverse-engineering expert Alessandro Paluzzi has now identified in the social network’s application code «small references» to a subscription plan that would include the blue badge, as he shared on his Twitter account.

This new strategy, is very similar to the Twitter Blue subscription, which among the additional features it offers over the standard version, includes the blue badge that verifies a user’s account.

At the moment there are no details on how the subscription plan will work. It is expected that in addition to offering interaction and transmission advantages, the subscription will give greater visibility to the content, as well as personalized attention if there is a problem with the account.

The various features of this new service have been in development for at least a year. Because of this, it is possible that Instagram subscriptions will be officially announced before the end of the year 2023.

Changes in the social network

This year Instagram added some features focused on commercial profiles to sell the products of entrepreneurs within the application and have direct contact with users.

One of the updates that the platform has is that the button to create content is back and they will remove the Shop icon. The modification is already being seen in some devices and is expected to reach the rest of the applications around the world.

For now, the reasons for this type of changes are unknown, however, from the beginning the application wants to focus on the generation of content on the platform and encourage influencers to generate interaction with the platform.

However, the button will be available through stories, advertising and Reels from where companies will have the option to enable the button with a direct access to their products.

This will move the Reels button to the place occupied by the Shop button, which gives priority to inspire the creativity of different users, in addition to «offering the opportunity to discover new things and create links between people from what they find,» they said.

The modifications will be ready for all users this month, so the menu in the home feed will be composed from left to right by: Home, Search, Create, Reels and Profile.
